Interior Architect: Architectes Anonymes
Location: Beirut Central District, Lebanon
Status: Completed
The internationally acclaimed Japanese restaurant by Riad Kamel of Architectes Anonymes recently relocated to Beirut’s Central District and Lumiere Studio, in collaboration with Hilights, worked to enrich the tempered modernism of the interior design and emphasize its organic ambiance by employing "Mini Diro II" and "Mini Diro LED", both Deltalight products. The lighting concept took into account the original idea of the architect to subtly invoke a topographic piece of Japan using raw materials such as wood and stainless steel. A custom made suspension was designed to complement the mirror ceiling by projecting a cherry blossom tree, and black and adjustable downlights were also installed to light only the restaurant tables to fulfill its functional purpose. Indirect lighting around the ceiling also served to highlight layers of wood work, giving character to the space. The sushi bar, made from matt marble, is also lit economically with deeply recessed lighting profiles. Chefs can also prepare food with their individual backlit tables, not visible to patrons.
